The Boston Globe reported today that the conference committee negotiating differences between the budgets approved by the Massachusetts House of Representatives and the Massachusetts Senate has completed its work.
The full legislature will vote on the budget on Monday in an "up or down" vote. The Globe reports that the conference committee produced a proposed budget of $26.8 billion, which appears approximately to split the difference between the $26.9 billion House budget and the $26.7 billion Senate budget. No copy of the conference committee was electronically available.
If the legislature approves the budget on Monday, it will go to Governor Patrick for his signature. It remains to be seen whether the Governor will exercise his "line-item" veto powers - and whether the legislature will override any gubernatorial line-item vetoes.
