With less than two weeks remaining until the Presidential primaries in Texas, Ohio, Vermont, and Rhode Island, signs are clear that momentum is continuing toward Illinois Senator Barack Obama - and away from New York Senator Hillary Clinton.
As shown in Dave Leip's Atlas, Texas, Ohio, and Vermont are now considered to be "tossups" based on recent polls. Some polls are indicating Obama wins in all three of these states. New polls have Sen. Obama leading in Vermont by 26 points, in Texas by 14 points, and in Ohio by 8 points. Only in Rhode Island does Sen. Clinton retain a clear and consistent lead. All four states had been polling strongly for Sen. Clinton as of the beginning of February.
Given that Texas and Ohio have been identified as "do or die" states for Sen. Clinton, we may be seeing the beginning of the end for her 2008 Presidential campaign.
(Disclosure: The Eisenthal Report has endorsed Sen. Obama.)
